(Another) Hello from Portugal

Hello !
My name is Faria (Gordazana is my nickname because i'm fat !!!), and I am a proud owner of a 1981 (Port)Aro 260 (Daihatsu 2530 cc engine).
I own it since February 2010, but I know Him since the end of de 80's when my godmother bought it.
For the past 3 or 4 years He only made a few hundred km, so she decided to give Him a better life.
And may fight started !!!
It's quite dificult to get new material for Him.
I got to the conclusion that it is better to buy another one as a donnor !
Until know, I dealed with a leaking water radiator, a leaking fuel deposit, a turn lights relay and a mad hand brake, which know is not breaking at all, AGAIN !...
It also as no fuel info, because the sensor is dead...
And now, there's a problem with the stop lights, that keep turn on always !!!!
But will be solved soon, as I already got to the problem ... I think ...

Meanwhile, it was stolen, and used to carry stolen butane gas bottles for a week, but that is another story ...

I've made some soft off road with it, but I will quit, and keep it as a Classic !!

Or maybe in Portugal Aro 240 was renamed Aro 260, who know...

Your Portaro is precisely the same as mine, 260 model, 2530 c.c, Daihatsu engine.
The question is whether it is a Celta, like mine, or a DCM.
As you know, spare parts for Portaro are very difficult to find, and that is why it is so rare, but unfortunately not too expensive...
Anyway, I also had the same problems as you.
Although is identical to Aro 240, Portaro components are quite different:
Engine parts are essentially from Daihatsu F50, and electric system from Renault 12 (Dacia)
Keep it preciously, because there are only a few original models...

Mine is a DCM.
I think Celta is the one with plastic (!!) high roof, right?
And with a modern dashboard ?...

I am still young in the Aro world so the secrets are many !
I found that the Daihatsu engine is still active in markets such as Australia and South Africa (with some changes do to ecological reasons), so it is not hard to find spares.
Electrics are Renault. And are not hard to fix. To someone who knows how ....
The drive train, gear boxes and suspension is what scares me!

The car is easy to work, and there is some LR Series material that can be used.
Will try the brakes soon...
