i think that Dacia succes is based on low price, reliable technology (not high or new, because this is expensive) and good hands on assembly line!

Dacia Duster began to be sold in Portugal in April 2010, and is a case of successful sales in Western Europe.
In Italy, in just one weekend they sold 1,800 units.
In the next few weeks, I'll try to analyze this case study...

Dacia presented several versions of Duster:
The top model features are 4X4 traction, 1.5 l turbo diesel engine, and 110 hp.
Is also valuable the quality of the equipment with leather upholstery, electric controls, air conditioning and alloy wheels.

The petrol version is more economical, with a 1.6 l.engine and 105 hp.

Dacia Predicts 8 New Releases by 2015

Romanian car manufacturer Dacia plans the release of no less than 8 new models and facelifts by 2015. Among the newcomers, at least one will be a completely new design, probably a low-cost city car called Citadine, which will have a price tag of about EUR5,000.

The mini-Dacia will have four seats and four doors, with visual elements taken from Logan and the second generation Renault Clio. The reduced price of the new model is due to the design and the use of components from other models. The engine powering the Citadine will be a 1.2-liter one borrowed from the Renault Twingo.

The launch of the first Dacia SUV at this year's auto show in Geneva is a clear sign that the Romanian brand is aiming at the international market. The brand enjoyed positive criticism and increased popularity all over the world, particularly in South American markets where it's sold with a Renault badge.

Dacia vice-president, Constantin Stroe, stated that "Dacia will present a new model every year and in 2012 you will see extremely interesting things coming off the assembly line at the plant in Mioveni."

Groupe Renault's commercial director in Romania, Fabrice Cambolive, mentioned that "work is being done on the future Logan range, with the first model expected to enter the market in two or three years."

French manufacturer Renault released a computer-generated photo of a mid-sized, 4.7 meters long model code-named X52, that Dacia could make. A van could be launched in 2013 and a facelift for the Duster compact SUV will be released in 2014, along with a pick-up. A successor for the Sandero model could be released in 2015.

Thank's for your contribution, George.
In fact, Dacia has done a quality job.
I hope that one day Aro will find a partner that will bring back the mythical brand from Campulung to the world. :)

One of the Dacia Duster secrets sucess is the development and production based on parts and solutions experienced in other models, which reduces the final cost.

The AWD system with three types of operation; 2WD, 4WD Auto and 4WD Lock is based on the traction system of the Nissan Murano, X-Trail and Qashqai.

November 2009, the legendary racer Alain Prost is returning for another winter behind the wheel of a modified Dacia Duster.

Prost, who retired from Formula One racing in 1993, is piloting a Romanian-built crossover for the second time having last won the trophy driving a Toyota Auris in 2008.

“My objective is to win the Trophée Andros with Dacia,” said Prost. “But whatever the result we achieve, I would like to obtain it with panache.” :)

Hi Ramiro!

Glad to hear I have a serious fan in Portugal. Well, the Duster in your photo is an Trophee Andros example (Alain Prost's car). It just looks pretty much like a real Duster, yet it has a big V6 engine, situated behind the driver and co-driver seats. A nice beast...
